Chestnut Class – Y6

Welcome to Chestnut Class

We welcome you to Chestnut Class, the home of Year Six.

Teacher – miss Osborne

In Year 6 we provide exciting but challenge driven learning, in which we aim to inspire & enthuse the children to deepen their knowledge and prepare each individual for life in senior school.

We embrace the National Curriculum and provide an enriched learning environment, with stimulating & differentiated learning activities meeting the abilities of all children. Lessons include; English, mathematics, science, history, geography, art, design technology, information & communication technology, music, French, religious education, PSHE and physical education.

Are your ready to take on the challenge?

Our Topic

Topic provides children the opportunity to learn about the wider world and apply key skills within interesting collaborative projects and gain independent learning experiences.

Over the Spring Term, the Year 6 children meticulously researched into the impact of plastic upon our environment. Along this journey, they discovered some alarming facts and statistics which if we don’t start to change could impact our beautiful planet.  They have pro-actively designed recycling machines, identified local recycling locations in Staffordshire and even designed recycled toys to help encourage people to recycle and put a stop to our ‘throw away’ culture.  Needless to say, they feel very motivated about the topic and hope that you enjoyed the Year 6 Easter Service, which also highlighted the impact of our plastic footprint upon this world.

In the Summer Term, Year 6 will be revising for their Key Stage Two end of year tests, therefore our Summer topic will not commence until after this period and we will update the Year 6 page later in the term.
