Computing and ICT
A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world.

We follow the Teach Computing Scheme to deliver a comprehensive coverage of the three main areas of study: Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy.

Computing ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through Information and Communication Technology – to enhance their learning and help them create new and exciting content.

We also spend time ensuring pupils are aware of and confident with digital safety and their individual rights within an ever changing digital world through a safe environment. At Haughton St Giles, we ensure that an open dialogue is always available between pupils and staff regarding digital usage and e-safety. We develop the pupils ability to become responsible digital citizens where any and all electronic systems and devices can be used positively and productively. E-Safety is threaded throughout our computing and PSHE curriculum units, ensuring that this is an integral part of our developing digital world, supporting our pupils to stay safe online.
