Conker Class - Y1/2

Welcome to Conker Class!

In Conker Class, we are a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class who build directly on the strong foundations developed in Acorn Class in Early Years.
As we move through Year 1 and into Year 2, we develop skills further through engaging in purposeful, exciting learning experiences. Our focus is not only on academic progress, but also on developing ourselves as learners — building independence, resilience and pride in everything we do as we prepare for the end of Key Stage 1 and our transition into Year 3 and Key Stage 2!

Other Useful Information

Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Children should have both indoor and outdoor kit in school on these days. All jewellery must be removed and long hair needs to be tied back.
'Show and Tell' takes place on Friday afternoons and is an opportunity for children to present and talk to the class about something they are proud of; this develops key speaking and listening skills as well as our school value, 'pride'.

Homework is given out on Fridays and must be returned by the following Wednesday. The children are encouraged to complete homework independently where possible, but have the opportunity throughout the week to ask for additional help in school.

Music takes place every Friday, where the children explore a variety of genres. They learn how to sing a song and play the glockenspiel too!

We visit our wonderful school Reading Retreat each Friday too, where children can choose a book of their liking to take home.
